Who We are?



PSS is an innovative and dynamic charity that has found pioneering new ways to support people within their community since it was established in 1919. PSS has developed internationally acclaimed innovations in social care to help tens of thousands of people across the United Kingdom and beyond.


At PSS, we tailor our services to fit the individual requirements of each person we help. It is our aim to provide a better life for those with disabilities ranging from mental health disorders to physical impairments.

SERVING SOCIETY

Over the past year we have helped more than 30,000 people to live happier, healthier and more rewarding lives.

Here are just some of the things we have done to help the community.

  • Helped 14,540 people to live a healthier lifestyle
  • Supported more than 2,000 children in need
  • Sustained 2,328 people with mental health needs in the community
  • Supported 139 disabled people in PSS shared living schemes
  • Provided information, advice and advocacy services to 752 people from ethnic minority communities
  • Enabled 444 people to live in an Adult Placement setting with families, in preference to residential or hospital care
  • Provided 1,041 pieces of assistive technology equipment to aid independent living. 
  • Provided respite breaks for 463 young carers
  • Delivered counselling services to 695 people in 16 different languages
  • Helped 4,922 people from 47 countries through our online dementia café
