Legacy Donations
A legacy is a lasting gift for future generations. People who have supported PSS during their lifetime may choose to leave a gift in their Will to help continue our innovative work.
A Will is one of the simplest ways to safeguard the future of your family and gives you a wonderful opportunity to remember your favourite charities. It is the best way of ensuring that your wishes are followed and can help to reduce the worries of your loved ones at what is already a stressful time.
In some cases your Will can be drafted to minimise or eliminate Inheritance Tax which might otherwise be payable. By arranging to leave PSS a bequest – and telling us about it in advance –you will enable us to plan our work with a far higher degree of accuracy safe in the knowledge that when the time comes to implement our plans, we have the funds to back them up.
Types of Legacy Donations
There are several ways you could choose to leave a gift to PSS as noted below:
Residuary Legacy: This is a remainder of your estate after all other bequests and expenses have been deducted. A residuary legacy has the added benefit of keeping in line with current inflation.
Pecuniary Legacy: This is a gift of a specified amount of money, for example £5,000. However, unlike a residuary bequest, inflation can reduce the amount of a pecuniary gift.
Specific Legacy: This is the gift of a specific item such as property, jewellery or other valuables.
Donations in lieu of flowers: This gift can also be included in your Will which requests that family and friends make donations to PSS instead of sending flowers at your funeral.
