Adult Placement

PSS Adult Placement helps adults in need of care live as part of a family. It’s not just for the elderly, but for those with mental health needs, physical impairments or learning difficulties. We offer a practical solution for a wide range of social needs.

PSS provides many services, but one thing that is concurrent is that each of our services is tailored to the individual. We offer flexible services that actively encourage independence, allowing people to live rich and fulfilling lives.

Adult Placement provides a number of solutions that we have outlined below:

A Safe Place
PSS provides a safe living environment in a carer’s home, and we ensure that support is of a high standard.

Needs Review
We maintain a close liaison between the users of the service and the PSS key workers to identify changing needs and adjust support when required.

Monitored Selection Process
We try our best to match up service users with a suitable carer family, with skilful sensitive selection.

Flexibility
PSS provides greater flexibility, ranging from day care or short breaks right through to long-term support according to individual need.

Intermediate Care
Intermediate care as an alternative to hospital admission – or, indeed, to enable discharge until the person concerned can regain their independent lifestyle.

Extra Support for those who need it most
We provide solutions for people with dementia…extra support for mums with babies…and for many others in need of caring, homely accommodation.

National Care Standards
Quality Assurance in line with the National Care Standards for Adult Placement laid down by the Department of Health. We welcome Government recognition of Adult Placement as a model of good care.

Individual Support
PSS provides individually tailored support, promoting a greater sense of independence as well as opportunities to integrate into the wider community.

An Open Door Policy
Real partnership and a welcoming “open door” for friends and relatives of people in Adult Placement so that relationships are maintained.

  • PSS carefully chooses its carers. We follow strict recruitment and security protocols to ensure our Carers are suitable for working with service users. Below you will find what we do to ensure our carers offer the best level of care.
  • We provide qualified workers who can assess the experience as well as the vocation and motivation of applicants.
  • We provide practical support for Carers, including the handling of paperwork and overseeing financial arrangements.
  • We have had many years success in matching Carer families with people needing support and in monitoring relationships between Carers and users of the Adult Placement service.
  • We provide on the job training and opportunities for Carers to acquire recognised NVQs to enhance their lifelong learning potential.
  • We also provide ongoing support, help arrange holidays, respite breaks and access to the PSS out-of-hours emergency service.

Becoming a carer in an Adult Placement setting is a satisfying and flexible self-employment opportunity that allows carers to work at home with the knowledge that they have the support of PSS when they require any.

PSS welcomes applications from existing or potential Carers from any kind of background that provides relevant experience – for example, caring for a relative or bringing up a family. Please visit our Working with Us page for more details.
